Illness...

In case anyone was wondering I'm much better after being Ill for about 7 days.  It got sooo bad when i was back in Glasgow that I thought I was gonna die!!!  Found out there is a name for ppl who get sick while in Mexico  "Montezumas Revenge"

Welcome to Germany

Well Today was my second day working and I must say, so far I am very happy with the job.  It's incredibly demanding both physically and emotionally but It's far from dull.  Yesterday the mother had ordered lunch for us all from one of their restaurants..  We enjoyed a spread of char grilled vegetables, a beef dish, proper seafood salad with lobster, octopus etc etc and al this was followed by a whole tray of desserts- panacotta, chocolate cake, blueberry cake, cake biscuits and truffles.  It was truely rediculous.  To top it all off we had a glass of wine from one of thier wineries.

They seem to be extremely giving people and very grounded despite their wealth.  today was pretty much the same, lunch was delivered from the restaurant and before i went on my break she gave me a glass of German champagne to "enjoy" whilst on my break.
Since I worked the weekend I am off tomorrow and also Tuesday so I plan on heading into town to organize a local sim card and just get my bearings.

I've been told I can use the Mercedes Kompressor while off duty.  I think I can "tolerate" the fact that I'm so far away from anything, It's going to be a great opportunity for me to save my lil ass off.
Will upload some pictures tomorrow of the area.

Moi Suomi

Kiitos ystävilleni. Ottaa hauskaa Suomessa!

Well i finally made It to Finland, I left London early Saturday morning as I had a relatively early flight from stansted which is over an hour outside of London. It was my first time flying with the budget airline "Ryanair" not quite as bad as I had Imagined!

After a 3 hour flight I finally touched down In Tampere, Finland which is about 3 hours North of Helsinki. As we were landing on the run way all I could see were trees, looked like the airport was in the middle of nowhere and as it turned out it was!

I was greeted by Jonna and her mum, It was so great seeing her and this time in her home country! She quickly presented me with a bag full of goodies which included all the essential touristy thangs. From the airport we headed for her mum's house which was going to be the base for the next 2 weeks. Jonna's mum doesnt speak much english so It's been fun communicating with her. She has been wanting me to teach her so while Jonna has been at work her mum and I have made some trips to the supermarket and also some walks with the dog, Its amazing how much you can understand and speak when your in the situation.

Saturday afternoon I was meeting up with all the girls In Helsinki for a night out, of course It had been a little while since I had seen them so of course there was much to catch up on. We had such a fun night filled with lots of alcohol and ever more laughter, u cant beat good girlfriends.

On Sunday Jonna and I did all the touristy things in Helsinki which is the capital and largest city in Finland. It's in the southern part of Finland, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, by the Baltic Sea. The population of the city of Helsinki is 584,420 and the population of Finland is about 5 million.

From Tuesday I spent the next coupld of days with Kati and her son Jelani, we made a trip up to Turku which is the oldest city in Finland. The weather was amazing and we had a fab time just walking around the old city and having lunch on the Aura River.

Wednesday I had my first Sauna experience and I suppose I wasnt prepared for it at all, I had not realized that you actually strip off and sauna with anyone and everyone. It was quite awkward as I was with my friend Kati, her son Jelani and also her grandmother. As I wasnt mentally prepared for it my prude ass was sitting in the sauna with my towel on lol I needed time to prepare for it lol, maybe next time Kati heheh

Kati was such an amazing tour guide, she took me to Vanajan Linna which is an old castle that dates back to 1924, the rooms were so grand and the grounds were perfectly manicured.

Story Of my life!!!!

Just back from the hairdresser and I am beyond pissed, as per damn usual. Y is it that hairdressers do whatever they want despite what you tell them? So now....I have black hair with what looks like grey tips, she was meant to do the same as she did the last time but clearly she felt going darker was a better option. Thank goodness the black is only a semi permanent but now I need to get my hair done when im In Scotland. Not happy jan!!!!

RIP Clint

Today we had the funeral for Clint. It was a long and very emotional day, I cant even begin to imagine how Bev and Peter are feeling. I suppose he is now in a "better" place, heart aches for Chloe and Jayk who are obviously too young to understand the magnitude of all this, they both seemed unaffected today. Just devastating.

IT'S A GIRL!!!

Well the anticipation is OVER!! I'm an Auntie AGAIN and boy does it feel great!! After a arduous 48 hours Daena finally gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Emily Yvonne Mitchell weighing in at 8/12 oz born at 2.14am. We have all been waiting for this day, Ava finally has a wee little cousin.

I was surprised as to how damn emotional I got, It was a mix of tears and laughter. Driving home from work tonight I just burst into laughter, I'm sure that ppl were staring at me thinking Im a lil "loco" I just couldnt contain the excitement.

So looking forward to meeting the new addition, Love you Lots Daena & I am sooooo proud of you. Colin, you've done well, I know you must be elated right now. It doesn't get better than this!!

All my love

Mutti leaves on Wednesday bound for Scotland! It's going to be so strange coming home to an empty house and no dinner on the table heheh How will Dad, Harley and I survive???? Funny bro

Lets just say that bro was a lil excited to have spotted a wild kangaroo, he acted a damn fool and jumped around all over the place

Bro come down under

Sorry its taken so long for me to updated this blog but I have been exhausted, getting up at 530 every morning is no simple task, plus Ive really had nothing of Importance to say!!

Any who, bro is now back to the grind in new york, he had a really great time in aus and I think he was plesently surprised with the beauty of australia, I suppose he didn't know too much about it so he came here with an open mind. After the grueling 23 hour trip from ny he arrived to some issues in immigration, the searched him and questioned him for 2 hours regarding his intentions whilst in australia. After waiting 2 hours for him I came to the realization that he must have run into some problem. I was waiting for him with a big welcome to australia balloon and when he finally came through those doors he looked somewhat pissed and out of sorts. I went up to great him but it wasn't exactly the hello I was dreaming about. As soon as he saw me he teared up and said he never wanted to come back here as they treated him like a criminal but once I calmed him down he was happy to b here.

We stayed on kent st right by circular quay so it was an ideal location within walking distance to everything. Didn't really plan too much for sydney, bro just wanted to relax and take it all in. I think the highlight to his trip was either a trip to bondi beach where he was schooled on how to body surf by a 78 year old sydney sider who quickly befriended bro, or perhaps meeting a real aboriginal dude who was playing the didgerido. it seemed he was making friends all over the place.

In melb we didn't do too much either, a long trip down the great ocean road where we stopped in appolo bay over night. He was in awe of the natural beauty here, even spotting a kangaroo on the way back to melb. He stopped the car, got out and started jumping around like a kangaroo, it was hilarious, I swear ppl must have thought he was crazy.

The last night in melb we all went out to lygon street for dinner and it was so great seeing him be oh so chatty with everyone, u honestly couldn't shut him up, very amusing. We had stayed at quay west apartments on southbank which were really nice, once getting back to the room he just went to the bay window and started bawling, seeing a grown ass man cry is some sight- made me feel pretty special lol. And as u can imagine there airport wasn't much better, he kept coming back through the doors, didn't wanna leave.

So now I'm back to the grind at work and just hate it, don't know what will happen in terms of my visa shit so feeling a little anxious, I need to speak with an immigration lawyer to find out what's what.
